Visit of a Medef International delegation to South Africa (Gauteng, Western Cape) from 30 November to 2 December 2016
A delegation of French business leaders visited South Africa from the 30th of November until the 2nd of December 2016.
Medef International is the representative of the Confederation of Enterprises Medef (Mouvement des Entreprises de France) in the world (outside the European Union) on a bilateral level, thanks to its powerful network in business circles and its management counterparts.
In July 2016, Medef International organised the France-South Africa Economic Forum in the presence of South African President Jacob Zuma and his ministerial and business delegation, on the occasion of his State visit to France.
The high-level delegation brings together some 20 business leaders, notably in the field of transport, banking and financial services, tourism, software, urban furniture, training and energy. Already established, in a business relationship or prospecting South Africa, these French companies seek to better understand South Africa.
The visit has been organised around meetings in the fields of energy, transport and project financing.
Also included in the programme are meetings with the economic development agencies of Gauteng and the Western Cape, as well as with the South African Department of Trade and Industry or the Silicon Cape initiative.
Ms Charlotte Montel, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. at the French Embassy, hosted a reception at the French Residence on Wednesday 30 November 2016 in honor of the visit in South Africa of the Medef International delegation.
Dr Zweli Mkhise, General Treasurer of the ANC and representatives of the three South African employers’ organisations Black Business Council (BBC), Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) and Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), attended the event.
On Friday 2 December 2016, the French delegation visited Cape Town and attended the CAP40Business Awards gala.
