The AfricArena new edition is coming the 15 and 16 November 2018!
AfricArena, the first exhibition dedicated to African start-ups, is coming back for it second edition the 15 and 16 November after the success of the first one last year in partnership with the French Tech and Silicon Tech. The exhibition objective? To organize the meeting between African start-ups and investors from 25 different countries. During two days, 800 claimants are expected to discover the new innovative South-African actors.
The minister of science and technology Ms Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane and the Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. M. Christophe Farnaud will give an inaugural speech.
Pre-selected start-ups of AfricArena Tour in Dakar, Lagos, Casablanca, Nairobi, Reunion Island and Mauritius will compete on big companies’ challenges proposed by large companies as Air France, Leroy Merlin, Saint Gobain, during speeches in front of investors and sponsors of the event. A good opportunity to discover the best projects and promote their development with sponsorships!
For the second year in row, the French Tech supports financially AfricaArena, a platform which truly values the French startups in South Africa. Another symbol of the link between France and South Africa in this field is the new partnership between AfricArena and Vivatech which follows the participation of an important South African delegation to the Vivatech exhibition in Paris previously this year including the South African minister of Business and Industry, Rob Davis. The AfricArena startups have already promoted their projects and valued Cape Town as an innovation territory.
Sanofi and Hello Tomorrow, deeptech platform have decided to join the AfricArena adventure this year giving more scale to this unique event!
On the occasion, the AfricArena organizers welcome a new sponsor and French strategic partner, Proparco, the French Development Agency subsidiary specialized in private sector funding. This agreement is following the last May announcement of the French president Emmanuel Macron during the VivaTech exhibition. He announced €65 million funding to be deployed through the French Development Agency into African startups and ecosystem accelerators.
This is good news for AfricArena. Since 40 years old, Proparco has allocated funds and aids to companies and financial institution across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle-East. The purpose of Proparco is to promote a sustainable economic, social and environmental development
The 2017 edition was an opportunity to explore tomorrow’s trends while unleashing some of the continent’s best startups and innovators. The main objectives of 2018 are the same: to strengthen the international traction of Africa’s tech startups, to promote the African tech ecosystem and to attract entrepreneurs and investors to Africa.
The 2018 edition will welcome new conference topics, new partners, twice as many attendees, new destinations and new challenges!
