Signature of an agreement on the teaching of French between the French Embassy and the TVET College of Port Elizabeth
Mr Olivier Buchbinder, Attaché for Cooperation and Culture in the Western and Eastern Cape at the French Consulate General in Cape Town, signed this agreement on behalf of the French Embassy with TVET College Principal, Mr Kaya Matiso, during an official ceremony at the Alliance française of Port Elizabeth.
The TVET College in Russell Road will offer French language classes in identified departments as an optional additional language, in partnership with the French Embassy and the Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth.
Working in collaboration, the TVET College and the French Embassy have agreed to offer French language classes for professional use to selected learners. Qualified teachers from the Alliance Française of Port Elizabeth will facilitate the courses at the Technical University which will be sponsored by the French Embassy.
This project is an effort by the two parties to develop the teaching of languages and cultural diversity and to improve South African students’ professional skills.
The graduates will be offered immersion courses in Reunion Island or mainland France in order to build on the acquired language competencies and improve their professional skills in their different fields of specialisation.
