Gradual reopening of the Consulate General

From Tuesday 2nd of June 2020, the Consulate General of France in Cape Town will reopen its doors to the public, in line with the strict hygiene practices recommended by the French and South African authorities. Visitations will be allowed for specified hours during the morning, strictly by appointment only.

All consular services will be available, except passport applications/issuing and national identity card applications/issuing. Due to the interruption of air trafic, the diplomatic pouch service is interrupted and these documents cannot be carried from France. Only emergency passports or laissez-passer can be issued to people currently leaving South Africa.

The online appointment service is suspended. All appointments must be booked by phone : +27 (0) 21 423 1575

Once your appointment is booked, please come alone to the Consulate, wearing a face mask and carrying your own pen. Your details will be taken at your arrival and your temperature will be checked.

Important information: visa services remain interrupted for the time being.
