New climate projections for 2050 [fr]
The new climate projections for 2050 by the World Meteorological Organization dramatically illustrate the consequences of climate change if meaningful measures are not taken to contain it to a maximum of 2°C.
The broadcasting of weather bulletins this morning by media outlets worldwide based on those predictions makes visible to all the high stakes of the ongoing negotiations at the 20th Conference of the Parties in Lima. As Laurent Fabius, French Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, explained, “We are the last generation with the ability to act.”
Next week, Mr. Fabius will participate in the negotiations, which are critical in achieving a universal agreement to fight climate change at Paris in December 2015 (COP21).
