AfricArena 2017 : first speakers’ names revealed
AfricArena has revealed three of the noteworthy speakers of the Africa Tech Conference: Ms. Matsi Modise, Mr. Justin Coetzee and Mr. Brian Richardson !
Silicon Cape and La French Tech Cape Town have joined forces to create AfricArena, an International Africa Tech Conference to connect investors and VC’s from accross the world with start-ups from Africa and beyond.
The AfricArena conference will take place on 6th and 7th November at the Century City Conference Center in Cape Town and aims to attract 500 delegates, with a strong proportion being international visitors.
Supported by the investment communities (AVCA, SAVCA and major angles and VC Network), it is designed with a heavy content of investors and challenges pitches, as well as panels with investors, entrepreneurs and innovators from different ecosystems.
Three of the speakers for the AfricArena Tech Conference have been revealed:
Ms. Matsi Modise is the managing director of SiMODiSA, an industry association with a mission is to accelerate entrepreneurship. The association does this by collaborating with policymakers to enhance the success rate of high impact and high growth entrepreneurs in South Africa. Modise is the founder and CEO of Furaha Afrika Holdings (Pty) Ltd, with subsidiaries including Furaha Solutions (a joint venture partnership with Work Force, a listed AltX-JSE company), Furaha Investments and Furaha Events. Her experience ranges from investment banking and enterprise development advisory with South African banks, to institutions of higher learning and corporate entities.
Justin Coetzee is a civil engineer by background and the founder of GoMetro. The company is an A to B technology company. GoMetro is part of the Tritech Media Group, headquartered in Cape Town, and member of the Silicon Cape initiative. GoMetro has received investment from notable angel investors William Kirsh, Michael Jordaan, Michael Pfaff, Derek Prout-Jones and Kevin Harris. GoMetro won the “Best Innovation in a Growth Market” at the San Francisco Mobile Global Forum in 2014, and the "Global Best Practice Award in Transportation" in 2015.
Brian Richardson is the founder of Wizzit, a global pioneer in mobile banking and financial inclusion. WIZZIT works with leading banks around the world and has established an enviable reputation for a cost effective practical end-to-end mobile banking and mobile commerce platform. Richardson is recognised as one of the world’s foremost authorities in financial inclusion and is a highly sought after keynote speaker. He is an Ashoka Fellow who is passionate about banking the world’s unbanked.
