High school learners engaged in non-violence, resolving conflicts to receive Peer Mediation Certificates

On Saturday 20th May 2017, SADRA Conflict Transformation will present certificates to the learners who took part in the first peer mediation training and are now actively engaged in mediation on their school campuses.

Local NGO, SADRA Conflict Transformation, led by Oscar Siwali, has implemented a new approach to tackling the violence in the three Manenberg High Schools. The programme trains Peer Mediators to respond to disputes among learners in order to reduce the level of violence and foster a more productive learning environment. SADRA brings creative ways of building a new generation of young people in Manenberg.

The event is co-hosted by the Alliance Française, with the support of the Consulate General of France in Cape Town. Family members, school board members, representatives from interested NGOs and Department of Education personnel will be on hand to witness and affirm the programme and presentation ceremony.
Anyone interested to learn more about conflict resolution in schools or the other work of SADRA Conflict Transformation is invited to attend.

Ceremony begins at 13h30 at the Alliance Française of Cape Town, 155 Loop Street.
