AfricArena : back on the first edition of this unique conference
On November 6th 2017, Ambassador of France to South Africa, H.E. Mr Christophe Farnaud and The General Consul of France, Mr Laurent Amar, attended the launch of the first Africarena conference, the largest tech innovation conference for strats-up, investors and global companies on the African continent.
The Africarena conference was organised by the French Tech Hub Cape Town and the Silicon Cape Initiative, with the support of the French Government through “La French Tech”
Ambassador Farnaud highlighed the French government’role in creating the right context for business and start-up development. He also underlined the importance of education and skills development : “No country can face globalization on its own”.
Globally, the rate of seed funding in Africa is about 1%. AfricArena is therefore the ideal platform where entrepreneurs and sponsors can meet.
Says Christophe Viarnaud, CEO of Methys and lead organizer of AfricArena: “Entrepreneurs are passionate and want to change the world. There are limited angel investors in Africa and We need to give the world confidence in African tech startups and attract international investors and that is what AfricArena aimed to do.”
More widely, it provides the platform for start-ups to pitch their ideas, where investors can find new projects and where global companies can find solutions.
See you next year for the 2018 editon !
